Vegan Bite by Bite

Then I went through my cabinets and read all of the labels. Even my pancake mix had egg in it. Well, thanks to you my cupboards were bare!!! So, I went to the store today and was shocked at how much stuff the regular grocery store has that is considered vegan. Soy milk, tofu in the ethnic aisle , and the Sesame oil was really no more expensive than the Olive oil. But first, I searched all of the terms and made myself a "vegan" glossary: I then made myself a list of foods and marched to the store. AND I love animals enough, that my shopping today I hope I saved at least one chicken's baby, or the imprisoning of a cow.

Thank you Marilyn for taking an old pro like me "step by step" so that I can see in plain black and white that it really is not difficult or expensive. This will be challenging because I am single and will only cook for one person; but, the mutilated, tortured and butchered animals I would say find their conditions much more challenging. I am so excited to make the "Sweet and Sour Cabbage Soup" from your recipe section.

I love that it can be frozen in bulk. This way, when hungry I won't be tempted to eat snacks. Thank you Marilyn for changing my life!!! Marilyn Peterson wrote Vegan Bite By Bite to help you understand all the aspects of the experience of becoming vegan that she describes as a life transition. In Vegan Bite By Bite you'll find a multi-faceted approach to the new vegan you. She's presented her knowledge as your creative cooking coach, kitchen goddess, and vegan mentor. She discusses what you need to be aware of in order to understand how mainstream food affects your health.

She points to studies and other publications, and provides interviews with doctors and professed long-time vegans who reveal their own journeys. And her personal evolution from junk food eating in her youth validates her later choice to become vegan after a health crisis and other options had been exhausted. The over recipes and menus that author Marilyn Peterson has developed require only basic cooking methods. The range of these recipes for vegan dishes is a full complement at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with sweets, too.

Transitioning to vegan is a profound lifestyle choice, but as it turns out, not an uncomfortable one. You can have your vegan cake and comfort food: And if you're looking for advice on how to start, see her comparative tables of mainstream and vegan choices that set the standard for your vegan pantry. Vegan Bite By Bite is an indispensable guide to the vegan lifestyle.

It can help you take the first steps towards choosing the most healthful foods for your table. And it shows how we can select out from our diets the meat and animal products that are so destructive to the animals and to the humans that eat them. Many would have thought that this is a cookbook dedicated for doctors, physicians, and registered dietitians, with her great wisdom on the benefits of eating vegan and raw foods, which she hared enthusiastically.

There are many vegan cookbooks out there, no doubt, but none has the passion for raw food preparation the way Marilyn envisioned and communicated in this book of hers. Her recipes seem to me the extension of her personality, which are vibrant, fresh, and every bit delectable. The step-by-step instructions are also easy to understand and follow. This is a perfect vegan cookbook for an inspiring home cook, culinary student, as well as professional chefs. Having tried many of her recipes, I can vouch the deliciousness of her approach in vegan food preparation. One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful.

I bought this book for my daughter, a very busy college student, vegetarian wanna-be vegan. She absolutely loves that the book is filled with menu suggestions and recipes which do not take a PHD in culinary arts to prepare. It has helped her eat an almost exclusive vegan diet which in turn has helped her thin down and reach a very healthy bmi.

The recipes seem easy enough to follow. My favorite part of the book is when she has the background and life stories of actual people who transitioned to being vegan and how it has changed their lives. See all reviews. Vegan Bite by Bite

I stopped eating meat about 15 years ago. Not only because of cruelty but because of my love for all living things. Whenever I looked at meat on my plate I saw a face of what used to be a perfectly created animal made by the hands of God and it made me sick. However, I kept eating cheese and egg "whites" and drinking milk. My justification, which I really believe to this day, is that an animal did not have to die to give it to me.

But then, about a month ago, I stopped carrying my designer purses made of leather, threw out all leather shoes, leather pants and jackets. The smell made me think of cruelty. Still, milk, cheese, eggs, butter. I never replaced the meat I stopped eating and never stocked a "vegan" pantry because I had the misconception that I could never afford those expensive replacements. How wrong I was. Since then my skin was bad, I am out of shape okay just fat!! What can I do? I don't have money. I don't live on a reserve. I cannot house a hundred animals. Then I looked at my 3 little doggies that I foster from rescues and said out loud "one by one"!!!
